About the College and Stockton

The College

San Joaquin Delta College is a modern comprehensive 2-year community college serving approximately 23,000 day and evening students of diverse backgrounds. The main campus is located on 165 acres at 5151 Pacific Avenue in Stockton, California. Other courses are offered throughout the college district in the communities of Lodi, Manteca, Rio Vista, Sutter Creek, Jackson, and San Andreas.

In December 2009 the Board of Trustees of San Joaquin Delta College conducted a Dedication Ceremony for Delta College's South Campus at Mountain House, 2073 South Central Parkway, Mountain House. The new campus was funded by the Measure L Bond, supported by the voters of the San Joaquin Delta Community College District in 2004.

The new campus at Mountain House offers a full range of General Education and Nursing Program science prerequisites. The new campus consists of 15 classrooms, four science labs, Delta's Cisco Networking Academy, a library and administrative office. The campus administrative office will serve as a "one stop shop" for Admissions and Records, Financial Aid, and Veterans Services. New curriculum will emphasize alternative "green energy" programs.

Semesters begin in mid-August and early January. A summer intersession starts in June. The total full-time college staff numbers approximately 640.

The Area

Stockton is a city with a population of over 296,000 consisting of a rich cultural mix, where housing is still affordable. Situated in the rich agricultural valley of San Joaquin, Stockton offers easy access to the Pacific Ocean, the Mother Lode country, and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The City of Stockton received the "All-America City Award" in June 1999, 2004, and 2015.

Located 90 miles east of San Francisco and 45 miles south of Sacramento, the Stockton area boasts warm sunny days and evening breezes from the Delta waterways much of the year. Stockton is an inland deep-water port and is located adjacent to the Delta, a network of over 1,000 miles of rivers and sloughs. These same waterways offer many opportunities for recreation, such as fishing and boating.

The Stockton area also offers ample opportunities for advanced education. Institutions of higher education include the University of the Pacific, CSU Stanislaus and Humphrey's School of Law. Some of these institutions offer extension courses on the Delta College campus.
