September 15 - October 15
San Joaquin Delta College Celebrates Latine Heritage Month each year between September 15th and October 15th. Formerly named “Hispanic Heritage Month,” Latine Heritage Month celebrates the diverse Latine cultures of Stockton and surrounding communities. Celebrate with us all month long! Attend one of our featured events (see below). Don’t forget to like San Joaquin Delta College’s Facebook and Instagram page to stay up to date on events.
We are excited to invite you to our second annual flag parade called Pachanga Presente (or roll call party) to kick it off!
This is a student-produced event hosted by ASDC, the Office of Student Life, and the Digital Media Department (DMEDIA), in collaboration with Puente, the Chicanx Latine Faculty Task Force (CLF), and La Raza Employee's Association.
Event Details: Pachanga Presente Flag Parade
Date: Thursday, September 19, 2024
Time: 12-1:30 pm
Location: Quad (outside of Danner Hall)
What to Expect: This is an opportunity to celebrate our Latine/Hispanic/Chicanx/Afro-Latine/Indigenous gente!
Flags: The parade will showcase flags representing various Latin American countries. Our student emcees will share short facts about each country as each flag makes its way through the parade carried by someone on campus.
Tacos: Free tacos for Mustang Pass holders (while supplies last!)
Dancing: There will be cumbia dance lessons!
Music: Enjoy lively music and emceeing provided by 93.5 KWDC Delta College Radio student producers.
Community Unity: This event aims to promote unity and cultural exchange within our campus community, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for culture, and allowing our self-identifying Latine students, faculty, and staff to be celebrated.
Tabling: Look for a table to get information about Puente, the Dreamer's Success Center, the Chicanx Latine Faculty Taskforce and how to contribute to La Raza's student scholarships. If you can't make it and want to support La Raza Employee's Association, please consider completing the payroll deduction form found here.
Events are made possible through a collaboration of faculty and staff from the Latinx Heritage Month Committee as well as...
