Broadcasting from the college's Digital Media department in the Shima 146 classroom, KWDC is our fully functional, noncommercial, FCC-compliant terrestrial radio station that mirrors a professional radio station. KWDC exists as an experiential lab to prepare students for work in the broadcasting industry. Participating students learn planning, production and execution of multimedia messages including social media and emerging trends. KWDC provides LIVE student-produced programming and provides pre-recorded programming and music the rest of the time to bring our listeners a 24/7 schedule.
We produce mini movies, documentaries and video communication as part of our video curriculum. Our students create content that is placed on our department Youtube page and occasionally submitted for air on our local Comcast station.
Digital Media courses are designed to develop a strong base of knowledge and skills that will serve as a foundation for further study. The Digital Media Certificates are designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in the broadcasting, podcasting, radio, television and related electronic media industries. The Digital Media AA degree is designed to prepare students for Digital Media careers and transfer.
