Delta College Faculty Art Show
Biography:
Mario Moreno has been teaching drawing and painting for 25 years at Delta College. He is a native artist of the San Joaquin Valley and educated at California State University, Chico and Sacramento. His work has been part of the Royal Chicano Air Force and regional muralist movements.
Artist Statement:
Moreno’s work often focuses on vibrant, abstract paintings that explore the social, political, and cultural verities of the Chicano experience. Paint is applied for its own content, and not solely as a vehicle to imitate an object. Abstract application is used as a play of memories, promoting the reciprocal relationship of color and memory— a gathering of observations and reflections.
