US Department of Arts and Culture
The U.S. Department of Arts and Culture is a people-powered department—a grassroots action network inciting creativity and social imagination to shape a culture of empathy, equity, and belonging. The USDAC is not a governmental agency. Artists, activists, creative organizers, educators, and other community members across the country helped to shape this initiative. A national vision of truly democratic cultural policy and intervention inspiring thought and action through local and national organizing.
The USDAC recently announced a timely initiative, A PEOPLE'S WPA, featuring a Twitter Town Hall on September 1, an online publication launched on September 6, and four wheatpaste actions happening in Albuquerque, Chicago, Detroit, and Richmond. A PEOPLE'S WPA is a call for a public artist jobs program, and a blueprint reimagining the role of artistic labor in rebuilding society
