Biography:
Jay Dougan currently teaches at Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO, where he is a Professor of Art in the Department of Art & Design. Jay teaches sculpture, ceramics, and 3D foundations. Jay is originally from Southwest Michigan, he attended Western Michigan University where he received his BFA / Ceramics in 1996. Jay went on to earn his MFA from the University of Notre Dame in 2002. Prior to joining Fort Lewis, Jay was an instructor and technician at the Herron School of Art and Design, IUPUI, Indianapolis.
Artist Statement:
The images on my vases are inspired by the everyday mundane objects that I pass by. I try to bring out aspects of the landscape that are not always seen, but passed by without any thought.
