Harvest of Progress is a 20-foot-tall bronze sculpture created by Rowland Cheney, an artist and teacher at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton. An important cultural symbol, it consists of two conjoined subjects (a farmer and a railroad engineer) and stands at the center of the traffic roundabout near the Tracy, California. Harvest of Progress in Dark Winter is one of several studies of this sculpture that attempt to, without simply mimicking the original, creatively represent the cultural importance of the sculpture. The image is intended to represent the weather present at the time the photo was taken.
I am currently pursuing a certificate in Graphic Arts, but already hold a BA in English, an MBA, and a Doctor of Education degree. My pursuit of a certificate in Graphic Arts at the age of 63 years is purely for enrichment and the pursuit of some level of aesthetic competence. I do not intend to work in the arts in pursuit of money, but want to pursue opportunities to expand my knowledge, and foster relationships with those who will appreciate or develop my art.
