Visions In Clay
September 4 - 21, 2018
Alina Hayes
Poets use expressive language to paint a picture in the mind’s eye. Similarly, with the aid of familiar idioms, language and visual abstraction, I aim to connect individuals by expressing certain universal truths. These works serve as a reminder of a common human condition shared by all in today’s divisive climate.
This work explores ambiguous language and metaphor and how it relates to the human life. Wheel-thrown sections combined and blended together into a whole biomorphic object. The object remains unglazed, exposing the clay’s naked and stone-like nature.
