Visions In Clay
September 4 - 21, 2018
John Tobin
This is a demonstration piece that I made at the closing of the “Tall Tales Small Works” show of which I was a part, in conjunction with the Wayne White “Monitorium” show at MOCA Virginia Beach in the fall of 2018.
It incorporates my fears for our future and short-lived tenure as the apex predator. As a child in the 50’s I experienced the anxiety of the nuclear age, and hoped the world was becoming more peaceful when the Soviet Union collapsed. But alas things did not turn out as I had hoped and here we are. Strangely I like this piece, maybe because there is hope in his eyes?
