Visual Poetry: Alumni & Current Student Artists
Baz Martin
Baz Martin is a hobby artist who was born and raised in Stockton, California. Most of his current work is done digitally but he has been branching out into different mediums. Currently a lot of its inspiration comes from creating characters, fantasy, and queer identity.
The main inspiration of this flower fold book is based upon a collection of poems titled “Crush” which was written by Richard Siken. I found his work back when I was in eighth grade and I have had a deep connection with “Crush” ever since. Creating this book and choosing a handful of my favorite poems from his collection has allowed me to try out new ways of creating more hands-on pieces which was an interesting opportunity.

Crush (excerpt) – by Richard Siken
You're in a car with a beautiful boy, and he won't tell you that he loves
you, but he loves you.
