We're wiping out $3.6M in student debt!

We are excited to share that Delta College is forgiving $3.6 million in debt owed to the College by current and former students!

If you have debt as a result of unpaid tuition or other fees, that debt will automatically be removed from your records. You do not need to take any action.

Note: This debt forgiveness does not include federal loans. It is very important that you continue to make payments on your student loans.

If you have a hold on your records related to student debt, that hold will be lifted and you will once again be able to register for classes! We urge you to sign up for spring classes and resume your education.

What kind of debt is being eliminated?

Student debt that you owe directly to Delta College, such as unpaid tuition or library fees. These debts will be erased from MyDelta.

What does this not cover?

Student loans through the federal government. It is very important that you continue to make your student loan payments.

How much student debt will be forgiven?

About $3.6 million from this Fall Semester as well as all previous semesters.

I owe fees from many years ago. Am I covered as well?

Yes.

Do I need to take any action to complete this process?

No. The debt will automatically be cleared from your records.

When will I see the debt disappear from my records?

We do not have an exact date. Thank you for your patience as we work through the process. Again, no action is needed on your part.

Does this mean I will I be able to enroll in classes again?

Once the debt is cleared, holds related to student debt will be removed and you will once again be able to sign up for classes and/or receive your transcripts.

Will all student holds be removed?

No. Holds that are not related to student debt will remain in place. If you have questions about a hold on your account, please visit the home page and use the LiveChat an agent at the bottom right.

What about the Spring 2022 Semester?

Only existing debt will be waived. Students will be responsible for any new costs and fees incurred during Spring Semester 2022 or future terms.
