Laura Magallanes
Credentials:
Laura Bianca Magallanes is the new Resource Specialist for the Career Technical Education (CTE) Workforce Development Center. She is a first generation college graduate and the first in her family to pursue a graduate degree. She received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a B.A in Modern Language Spanish in 2015 from the University of the Pacific.
During her time at Pacific she was very involved in the Latino Community Outreach program and worked closely with the Latino community in Stockton, Lodi, and Escalon. For the past seven years she has worked with diverse student populations from all backgrounds, and students from all education levels ranging from K-12 all through graduate students in college.
After graduation, Laura worked at Stockton Unified (SUSD) where she supported underrepresented students. Her two years at SUSD was eye-opening because she was able to work and advocate for students who were here in the USA for the very first time. During her time at SUSD she decided to go back to school for her masters, which she received in Education Organizational Leadership and Student Affairs from the University of the Pacific in May 2018. Laura believes in higher education being a major stepping stone for success, and her passion to work with college students flourish from her own lived experiences as a first generation college student. Laura is very excited to walk students through their options and connect them to the many resources at Delta.
