“The Dead Man” is part of a larger series of Ghost Pots which are pots thrown on the wheel, cut and disassembled and formed into new vessels. “The Dead Man” possesses the memory of the original pot, but the transformation has created a new expression.

I’m a writer and potter. Throwing pots is like working with words. Both require discipline, imagination and a certain stubbornness in the face of constant failure. My making of pots in the studio informs my work in writing and visa-versa, an ongoing cycle between shifting particles of grog between my fingers and an endless rhythm of syllables and words banging a drum inside my brain.
