Fierce Mustang Media, a student-run media group at San Joaquin Delta College, is excited to announce the upcoming Candidate Forum: "Dinner and Democracy" on October 17, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:50 p.m. in front of the Dawn Mabalon Forum on the Stockton campus at 5151 Pacific Avenue in Stockton, California.
The event will include voter registration, a catered outdoor dinner, a panel discussion on media literacy, and end with a debate featuring mayoral candidates, Christina Fugazi and Tom Patti. Register for the event here: https://bit.ly/dinneranddemocracy. Dinner is available for the first 200 people.
As a nonpartisan entity, our objective is to foster civic engagement and promote media literacy within our community. This event will provide another opportunity for Delta College students and area voters to engage directly with local candidates, ask questions, and better understand their platforms. Attendees will also be exposed to ways to critically analyze information during a political season and practice media literacy.
The event will be hosted in person and live on KWDC.fm and Deltacollegian.net, allowing a broader audience to participate and engage in the democratic process. The livestream will begin after the dinner at 6:00 p.m. (https://www.deltacollegian.net)
This event is funded by the James B. McClatchy Foundation (JBMF) as part of the Rapid Response Central Valley Democracy Fund.
