COUN 31 Career Exploration (Units: 1) This course is designed to provide the student with opportunities to explore specific careers through utilization of the Career Transfer Center and internet resources. The course includes investigation of job duties, training, educational requirements, desired employee characteristics, salary ranges, and future employment trends. (CSU)
COUN 30 Career Self-Assessment (Units: 1) This course is designed to introduce the student to the career life planning process. The course emphasizes self-assessment as the first major step in the career life planning process. The student identifies his/her personality, values, interests, skills and accomplishments leading to potential career choices. (CSU)
ENG 33A Study Skills for Success in College (Units: 2) This course is an advanced learning skills course designed to improve the student's study skills. Topics include taking lecture notes, improving memory, managing time, reading a textbook, passing examinations, and other strategies for college success. (CSU)
COUN 8 Education and Interpersonal Growth (Units: 3) This course is designed to foster personal development through a decision-making process. This includes self-awareness, value systems, patterns of communication, changing lifestyles, and how these factors impact a student's education, growth, and goals. (CSU)
PSYCH 2 Statistical Methods for Psychology & Social Science (Units: 3) This course is an introduction to the basic statistical methods and analyses commonly used in sociological research.
ENG 2A Reading and Writing w/ Support (Units: 4) Advisories: Ability to read at the 12th grade level. This is an introductory course that offers instruction in expository and argumentative writing, appropriate and effective use of language, close reading, cogent thinking, research strategies, information literacy, and documentation. With the help of additional instruction time and in-class tutors, this class is designed to develop reading strategies, conduct research, prewrite, draft, peer review, do just-in-time grammar instruction, and complete final drafts.
