What’s next?
Now that Measure K has passed, Delta College will begin the process of selling bonds in order to make funds available for construction.
Although large construction projects may take years to complete due to their complexity, Delta College is determined to act as quickly as possible in order to do the most good we can in the least amount of time.
On Feb. 18, 2025, the Board of Trustees approved a series of initial priority projects:
- South Campus at Mountain House, permanent building. This long-awaited project will enhance Delta’s existing campus in rapidly growing Mountain House, replacing old portables with a permanent building that could provide a home for technology programs for in-demand careers in computer networking, cybersecurity and other fields.
- Information technology. The College’s network and WiFi needs have changed significantly and no longer adequately serve students and employees. New cabling and other network/WiFi improvements are essential to meeting future demands.
- Lodi Emergency Vehicle Operation Center. This public-private partnership with the city of Lodi will provide training to meet growing demand for careers in public safety. The project will include a paved area for vehicle training, as well as restrooms.
- Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. HVAC improvements are needed in the half-century-old legacy buildings on the aging Stockton campus.
- Parking lots. Replacement of deteriorating parking lots at the Stockton campus, including new pavement, electric vehicle charging stations, and better signage.
Stay tuned for details on how these projects will be put into motion!
What it means for you
Measure K will cost homeowners on average $16 per $100,000 of assessed value. The average homeowner will pay $49 per year. All funds will be locally controlled and will benefit Delta College only.
With an annual economic impact of $572 million per year, Delta College provides a valuable return on investment for taxpayers. For example, the College trains more than 400 healthcare workers each year to fill critical jobs such as registered nurses, emergency medical technicians, and more. Your tax dollars will help ensure that students who are training for in-demand, high-paying careers have the facilities they deserve.
How to Get Involved
A Citizens Oversight Committee will monitor and review bond expenditures, to ensure the community’s tax dollars are being spent appropriately. This page will be updated with details on how to apply to serve on the committee. We encourage you to participate!
Supporting Local Workers
In Summer 2024, Delta College entered into a Project Labor Agreement (PLA) with local labor unions to promote career opportunities and job placement for Delta College graduates and local residents. We are committed to supporting the local construction workforce as we embark on these important Measure K projects.
