Sarah Meftah
Artist Statement:
b. 1993 Gainesville, Florida
Sarah Meftah is a visual artist currently living and working in San Francisco, CA. Her work explores themes from Gothic literature, American life and suburbia through a narrative, story-telling approach. Self Portrait is an example of one of many portraits that reflect that, by nodding at Charlotte Perkins Gillman’s short story, “The Yellow Wallpaper”. Like Gilman’s narrator, the image’s subject aims to convey that same sense of powerlessness, trapped in a domestic sphere.
