San Joaquin Delta College - Weather Update
January 04, 2023

Last update 5:25 p.m. -- PDF version available here

With the start of the new year, the Central Valley has experienced unprecedented rains and winds that have caused flooding, downed trees, roadway closures, and power outages. Today, as business ends at San Joaquin Delta College, the president’s office and police department are closely monitoring the weather and its effect on our campuses.

With the weather severity forecast to increase over the evening hours, we will increase our efforts to ensure the campus remains safe. In the event the weather causes what is determined to be, unsafe conditions, we will send out an updated message to all employees of a campus closure.

As it stands now, the District will be open for business tomorrow, Thursday, January 5th, 2023.

For the most up-to-date winter storm information, we encourage you to visit the SJ Ready website now: sjready.org/events/winter-storm/. There, you will find valuable resources, including:

  • How/where to report weather related issues
  • Flood information
  • Road closure information
  • San Joaquin County evacuation maps
  • Food related information

Included on the site is a direct link to the National Weather Service, where you can access up-to-date weather information impacting your communities at www.weather.gov/sto/.

We strongly encourage you to remain indoors during the high wind event and keep plenty of flashlights, bottled water, and warm clothing available, should a power outage occur.

For those employees facing difficulties getting to work, please contact your immediate supervisors for direction.

Again, we will provide a follow-up email should conditions change.
