Jeff Wright

Biography

Jeff WrightJeff Wright was born in Stockton and graduated from Franklin High School’s class of 1971. He earned an AA degree from Delta College and graduated from San Jose State University with a BA degree in U.S. History and Philosophy, completing his teaching credential in 1976. 

Jeff started teaching that year, and taught grades 7-12 in a variety of subject areas. He taught English, math, U.S. history and world history. His second year, Jeff taught alternative education. He has also been a licensed general contractor since 1980 and has worked in construction his entire life, building custom homes and doing large remodels. 

Because of his extensive background in construction, Jeff was asked to take over the wood shop and drafting programs at LSE. During his tenure at LSE and Lincoln High School he built an award-winning CTE program.  His students have won five Golden Bear awards and over 30 Outstanding Projects over the years. In 1992 Jeff was transferred to Lincoln High to teach the architecture and AutoCAD programs. He has received numerous awards over the years, including the Golden Bell Award, Gender Equity Award and the Construction Education Friend Award. In 2000 he was named San Joaquin County Teacher of the Year. In 2001 Jeff was fortunate to be selected as California Teacher of the Year. Overall, Jeff has been teaching at Lincoln Unified for 41 years.

After 10 years of hard work, Jeff and his industry partners were able to build the new Engineering and Construction Academy at Lincoln High. They celebrated the grand opening of the Academy on Sept. 9, 2010. The Academy has been open for seven years and serves over 500 students each year in the building trades and construction industry. 

Jeff and his wife, Debra, live in a ranch-style home that they designed and built in Clements. They operate a third-generation commercial cow-calf cattle ranch in the beautiful foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains near Lake Camanche. Jeff loves to ride his horse, rope and go camping.. Teaching is his passion and he is proud to be the founder of the Engineering and Construction Academy at Lincoln High. He is currently semi-retired and works part time for Lincoln Unified and as a consultant working with other districts to build programs similar to the Academy.
