I am Diana Greenleaf, an artist who creates ceramic sculptures with dynamic movement, mainly expressed in the form of canine and feline figures. Capturing movement and gesture works as a key element in my sculptures.

I want to catch viewers off guard as they try to orient in space my tumbling, twisting animals. I often tilt or turn a figure upside down to achieve the feeling I want. To me a static pose represents the psychological state of being stuck. Being thrown off center to regain balance, signals a flexible psyche open to the process of transformation.

Art, for me, serves as a catalyst for emotional healing. Working in clay allows me a spontaneity and liveliness that I want to elicit in viewers as they feel their own intimate relationship with my sculptures. Often people smile at my playful, dynamic ceramic cats and dogs. I imagine we share a bond of unconditional love experienced with our pets.

I am grateful for an artistic exploration that sparks my curiosity and look forward to more opportunities to connect with others through my sculptures.
