Michelle Espinoza grew up in South Gate, CA and briefly attended Cerritos College where she first found her love of ceramics. After the rollercoaster of life settled down a bit, Michelle began her search for her creative expression once again. She became reacquainted with her passion for the art form. Michelle has spent the last 3 years immersing herself in workshops, classes, and studios to find her voice. She draws inspiration from nature, specifically her love of trees. A part of Michelle’s childhood was taken away at an early age and her longing to recapture her lost youth and playfulness is expressed through her pieces. Michelle has actively participated in exhibitions including The Annual Student Art Exhibition – Cerritos College, 2025; where she received 1st Place (Ceramics, Figure Sculpture, and 3-dimensional design) for her piece “Butterfly Effect”; Ceramics Conference – Student Exhibition – Davis, CA/ 2025; Women’s History Month Exhibition – Cerritos College, 2025, (Honorable Mention – “Butterfly Effect”); Echoes Multimedia Journal – March 2025 Journal Publication.
Since I can remember I have been a daydreamer. My mind conjures up images of naturistic objects taking on human form. Being outside in nature has always been my escape; bringing feelings of freedom and open spaces to runway. This is where I get my inspiration to create. Trees resemble human bodies that are growing upside down. Weather that is constantly changing with the seasons, mirrors human personality shifts and growth. When creating a piece I am trying to embody the connection I feel between people and nature.
