This session features Dr. Adrienne Lawson, Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Pride Industries, Roseville, CA
The "Profiles in Equity and Excellence" virtual series focuses on Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) educators, scholars and professionals who are advancing equity, racial, and social justice efforts in a broad array of professional contexts.
We feel strongly that BIPOC voice and expertise presents a valuable and critical addition to the learning experiences of students at Delta College. Furthermore, we believe that stories related to the educational journey, insight, and perspectives of BIPOC community members are beneficial to our colleagues throughout Delta College and the broader Stockton community.
This speaker series will provide enlightening and motivational opportunities for our students and campus community to learn about outstanding BIPOC professionals with a focus on:
- Biographical background related to their educational journey, including factors that have shaped them as learners
- Significant events and highlights related to their career trajectory
- Insights into how their career advances diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives/efforts and/or how your work centers racial justice, and/or social justice advocacy
- Advice to BIPOC students who are navigating college, particularly those who are first-generation
Each one-hour presentation includes a 45-minute presentation with 15 minutes for audience questions. We will record each speaker's presentation with intention to provide our campus community a rich library of BIPOC speakers who offer meaningful, engaging, and culturally responsive knowledge and experiences about their equity work in industry and varied professional settings. These recordings will exist as a part of a new resource bank housed on the Ethnic Studies website via our YouTube platform.
