Filipino American History Symposium
“All Roads Lead to Stockton”
Saturday, April 22 from 12:30 pm – 4:00 pm
Dawn Mabalon Forum (formerly the West Forum) at San Joaquin Delta College.
Because thousands of Filipinos worked in San Joaquin County and the nearby Delta, Stockton became the crossroads of Filipino America. A six-block area in downtown, known as Little Manila, became the heart and soul of a vibrant ethnic community.
This symposium will touch on how Filipino Americans and their descendants shaped the history, culture and economy of Stockton and San Joaquin County. Presenters will share different aspects of the Filipino American experience such as Pinoy Boxing, Taxi Dancers and Student Activism.
The symposium is open to all! Free parking and admission!
A reception from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm will follow the presentations. The reception in Danner Hall includes refreshments and a community resource fair.
Enjoy performances by KAPWA of Edison High School, TOP FIVE hip hop group, and the EPIC Dance Team.
