What are Student Learning Outcomes?
Student learning outcomes ( SLOs)  are specific statements that describe the knowledge (what students will know), skills (what students will be able to do or demonstrate) and, what students are expected to learn as a result of their successful completion of a course or program.

Why Are Student Learning Outcomes (SLO) Important?

SLOs are important for the instructor

Specific learning objectives help instructors achieve clarity about what they want to accomplish

in their classes.

 

Specific learning objectives help instructors achieve clarity about what techniques they need to

use to achieve those goals.

Specific learning objectives make it easierfor instructors to assess how well the process of

teaching and learning is progressing.

SLOs are important for the student

Specific learning objectives aid in student learning because students know, from the beginning,

the goals of the course.

 

Specific learning objectives give students a way to think about and talk about what they are learning.

Specific learning objectives make it easier for students to assess how well their process of learning is progressing.
