Our Delta college women's volleyball team is off to a great conference start (2-0) and overall (8-4). Competing in arguably the toughest conference in Northern California (Big 8). The Delta Mustangs defeated Modesto (3-0) with scores of 25-15, 25-19, 25-23, and Cosumnes River College 3-1 with scores of 25-16, 25-17, 20-25, 25-18.  Our leaders of the day were Kaylyn Lackey, Shaylynn Beam and Francesca Zaragoza. Delta will be back in action tomorrow, 10/3/12, in Blanchard gymnasium at 6:30 pm taking on Diablo Valley College.  Admission is free.

Congratulations to Sophomore volleyball player Francesca Zaragoza! She has received a scholarship to continue her career at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.  Thank you to all of the faculty, staff, and athletics department whom have helped make this possible.

Delta Volleyball finished #7 in the state of California and #3 in Northern California last season.

The women's volleyball team has been a perennial powerhouse in the State for the past 25 years and especially in Northern California. In the past 25 seasons, they have recorded an 82%. In that time, they have recorded first place in their conference a total of 17 times, second place six times, and third place six times. They have participated in the prestigious California State Championships sixteen times placing in the top 3 in ten of the past fourteen seasons. In the past nine seasons, Delta has turned out seven All-Americans. 

Delta's 2009 season proved to be another very successful season.  The Lady Mustangs placed 2nd in what is arguably the toughest conference in the State.  They advanced through the Nor Cal play-offs winning both rounds of competition.  This qualified them to play in the Elite 8 State Championships. 

As a result of participating in the volleyball program at Delta College, many players have gone on to compete at the Division I, II and III levels including the University of the Pacific, Long Beach State, University of Oregon, UNLV, Cal Poly SLO, Weber State, St. Mary's College, University of Wyoming, Cal State Fullerton, San Jose State University, Fordham University, and Eastern Tennessee.
