Outstanding Student Awards

Selection Process

Each semester the Academic Senate hosts a reception to recognize and honor outstanding students. Nominees are selected from the students who are taking or have previously taken classes in an instructor's division/department; but they do not have to be majoring in that area. There is a limit of ten students per division. The Board of Trustees, faculty nominators, honored students, and their friends and family are invited to the awards program and reception.

Recommended Selection Criteria

  1. Academic, technical, athletic, or artistic performance.
  2. Special talents in subjects or sports in the division.
  3. Unusual accomplishments in subjects, sports, or performances in the division.
  4. Leadership among peers in the division.
  5. Any other characteristics that the instructor in the division feels worthy of recognition.
