Submit Transcripts from Other Colleges to Delta

If you have attended other colleges in the United States, you must have your official, sealed transcript be sent to the Admission and Records office. Transcripts must be sent prior to registering for classes. Please allow up to 2 weeks for delivery and processing of your transcript in order to prevent delays at your time of Registration.

How To Submit Transcripts

Your steps for submitting transcripts vary depending on your goals for while at Delta College. Please follow one of the options below.

Option 1: I want to transfer my units and graduate from Delta College with a Certificate or Degree
  1. Submit an official sealed transcript, from a U.S. Regionally accredited college to the Admissions & Record Office.

  2. Request an evaluation of your transcripts from Admissions and Records. The evaluation can take between 8-10 weeks. Please check your Delta College email during this period for the Evaluation Summary. Learn More about Evaluation Requests.

  3. Once the evaluation is complete, confirm your placement levels. Please log in to Online Registration and select the “Records” tab to view your Assessment History. If levels are noted for all three of the required areas (Reading, Mathematics, and Composition) you do not have to take the Assessment Placement exams. Otherwise, please contact the Assessment Center to review options for placement.

  4. Once your evaluation is complete, schedule a one-hour appointment with a counselor to complete an education plan.

NOTE: An Evaluation summary is not required in order for prerequisite course clearance.  Read more about Prerequisite Clearance.

Option 2: I just want to take a few courses at Delta, or take the rest of my courses at Delta College and transfer to a four-year College, but do not want to transfer my units.
  1. Submit an official sealed transcript, from a U.S. Regionally accredited college to the Admissions & Record Office.

  2. Review important Prerequisite Clearance information and take necessary steps to make sure all your prior college coursework is entered for prerequisite clearance (please note that this process is not automatic.)

  3. Confirm your placement levels. Please log in to Online Registration and select the “Records” tab to view your Assessment History. If levels are noted for all three of the required areas (Reading, Mathematics, and Composition) you do not have to take the Assessment Placement exams. Otherwise, please contact the Assessment Center to review options for placement.

  4. If you are unsure of which courses to register for, please schedule a 30-minute appointment with a counselor. Please inform the Counselor that you do not want your courses transferred to Delta College.

Transcripts FAQs
Can I Send Foreign Transcripts?

San Joaquin Delta College does not evaluate foreign transcripts nor is credit granted for foreign coursework. Students who wish to have foreign coursework recognized for the purpose of meeting prerequisite requirements must have the entire transcript or the individual course evaluated by an outside transcript evaluation service and file a Matriculation Appeal Petition for each course they wish to enroll in.

Matriculation Appeal Petitions should be submitted to the Admissions & Records Service Window, located on the first floor of the DeRicco Student Services Building.

What does “regionally-accredited” mean?

For another college’s courses to be considered for transfer to Delta – that college must have a “regional accreditation” just as Delta has. This means that the other college must be accredited by one of the following:

  • MSA = Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools
  • NASC = The Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges
  • NCA = North Central Association of Colleges and Schools
  • NEASC-CIHE = New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc./Commission on Institutions of Higher Education
  • NEASC-CTCI = New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc./Commission on Technical and Career Institutions
  • NWCCU = Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities
  • SACS-CC = Southern Association of Schools and Colleges/Commission on Colleges
  • WASC-Jr. = Western Association of Schools and Colleges/Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges
  • WASC-Sr. = Western Association of Schools and Colleges/Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities

Using Transcripts to Clear Prerequisites

Upon receipt of the official transcript, only the most commonly needed course prerequisites will be entered into the student system. Not all prior college coursework is entered for automatic prerequisite clearance, additional evaluation/assistance may be required. Please visit Prerequisite Clearance for more information.
