Adaptive Technology for the Visually- and Hearing-Impaired

The following resources are available at Goleman Library. The Library at South Campus at Mountain House has select Adaptive Technology available including recorders, Topaz, and Visodesk and Visobook (print enlargers).

Visually Impaired

For patrons who are visually impaired, Two (2) Freedom Scientific Topaz XL HD Video Magnifiers for low-vision patrons are available at the Library.

One of the Topaz stations is also connected to a Windows 7 computer. Both Topaz stations are located upstairs, near the Reference Desk.

The computerized Topaz station is equipped with Kurzweil 3000, ZOOM TEXT and JAWS for Windows.

Hearing Impaired

The Library has an sComm UbiDUO which allows for 2-way communication between a student and Library personnel via typing. Available at the Reference Desk.

Disability Support Program & Services (DSPS), located in DiRicco 234, phone number: (209) 954-5151 ext. 6272, has a Telecommunications Device for the Deaf (TDD/TTY) payphone service for personal calls. This TDD/TTY telephone may be used by the hearing-impaired students to call the Library for reference assistance.
